About the artist
My name is Tina Rabnell. I'm a self-taught artist based in Sundsvall, Sweden, working mainly with acrylics on canvas and paper. I started painting in 2022 after going through a traumatic experience, and art quickly became a way for me to process emotions and reconnect with myself.
I've never taken a formal art class—it's a conscious choice. I find so much freedom in exploring without rules, just following my instincts and letting the creative process guide me. That kind of openness makes it easier to access my inner world and express things I can’t always put into words. In my work, I strive to bring both structure and depth to my paintings. To achieve this, I use a generous amount of acrylic paint, layering it to create a rich, textured effect that adds dimension and life to each piece.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration for me. The quiet of the forest, the shifting seasons, the ocean’s rhythm—it all speaks to something deep inside. I’m also drawn to the unknown, to the idea that there’s more to this world than we can fully understand. That thought brings me a sense of comfort and peace, and it often finds its way into my work in subtle ways.
Other artists inspire me too, especially the beautiful and emotive pieces by Swedish painter Sabina Von Essen. Her work resonates with the same kind of emotion and softness I strive for in my own.
Through my art, I hope to create a sense of calm, curiosity, and connection—for myself and for anyone who views it. More than anything, I want my work to offer moments of reflection, a feeling of inner peace, and a sense of hope.
